NORTH STAR’S NEW WATER SLIDES A HIT WITH HOLIDAYMAKERS
It’s been a marathon journey that’s taken almost four years and cost more than $1.5M but Ian and Diana Beadel’s dream of building new waterslides to their North Star Holiday Resort at Hastings Point has finally come true.
The new ‘Super Slides’ were launched on the 20th of September 2018, just in time for a huge influx of visitors to North Star for the school holiday season.
Standing alongside North Star’s popular Sammy’s Adventure Lagoon, the two new 8.2 metre high tubular water slides add water-fuelled fun at every twist and turn as they spiral their way more than 60 metres down to poolside landing platforms below.
The construction and remodelling of the existing lagoon pool were carried out by Australia’s leading water slide experts, Swimplex Aquatics.
The innovative Coffs Harbour-based pool company added new technology features to the design of the slides, including built-in clear screens. The slide experience comes with an element of surprise, with a dramatic ‘disco light’ effect on the way down created by natural light shining through colours surrounding the tubes.
North Star owners Ian and Diana Beadel said the new waterslides will be “the icing on the cake” for families holidaying at their iconic Tweed Coast resort.
“Side-by-side, our multimillion-dollar waterpark and now the new water slides take the appeal of our park to families, especially kids, to a whole new level,” said Ian.
Once guests arrive at North Star, they can leave the car in its parking spot, put the wallet away, and sit back and relax while the kids make the most of the unlimited free family fun. Kids can spend their days charging between Sammy’s Adventure Lagoon, the new slides and Neptune’s Castle kids’ club. All these attractions are completely free for guests at North Star, unlike many other holiday resorts. The beach and estuary are also just a few minutes’ walk from all accommodation.
