For nearly four decades, Ian and wife Diana Beadel have continually updated and revitalised the Resort’s facilities and key attractions, keeping them fresh, new and appealing; a philosophy which has helped them achieve over 35% repeat visitation annually.

“To be competitive in the marketplace and provide secure employment for our wonderful team, we need to offer better facilities and a wider range of accommodation and activities than ever before,” said Mr Beadel.

“Our commitment to continually value-add, upgrade and improve North Star’s facilities and amenities has been instrumental in ensuring customer loyalty, repeat business and guest satisfaction.”

Mr Beadel said the existing slides installed over 20 years ago had exceeded their lifespan and required replacement to ensure safety and ongoing enjoyment by guests.

“We were left with no alternative other than to replace the slides and of course, the plan has always been to replace these with current technology. More than two decades have passed since they were first constructed so the model and structure of the existing slides is significantly outdated.”

The delays have been costly and stressful but we are thankful we can now proceed with the upgrades. I have no doubt this new facility will help us remain competitive for the at least the next twenty years.

“North Star is a haven for kids and their families and perhaps one day, the kids of today will be visiting North Star, along with their own young families,” said Mr Beadel.

Set-backs encountered with Tweed Shire Council have thrown the works some two years behind schedule but as the entire North Star team celebrates the news, Mr Beadel is now eagerly in the process of getting the long-awaited project underway.

North Star’s Resort and waterpark is a Hastings Point icon, attracting tens of thousands of local, national and international visitors each year, bringing economic benefits to the entire Tweed and Tweed Coast region.

North Star has an array of onsite facilities for families: Neptune’s Castle kids’ club, Seascape Leisure Centre, the Marine Environment Museum and Sammy’s Adventure Lagoon, one of the first waterparks of its kind in Australia and the location for the new waterslides.

The five-star North Star Resort has won the coveted Australian Tourism Award twice, amongst countless other awards and accolades gathered over its long and successful history.
