Join us these school holidays as our BBQ expert and Executive Chef, Carl Barnes demonstrates a range of tips and tricks for preparing an impressive home BBQ that will have all your friends talking.

 

Our BBQ expert promises to share his secrets to win hearts, in this insightful culinary journey into the world of BBQing. Learn a range of cooking methods to achieve mouth-watering  charred flavours, perfectly cooked steak, flavoursome stock and delicious condiments. Identify, prepare, roast and grill quality meats, with tips on carving and storing different cuts. Learn how to cook fall off the bone, mouth watering meat each time and prepare meals of gastronomic proportions to satisfy even the healthiest of appetites.

Cook up your BBQ feast alfresco style on the Ripples deck before we all sit down to enjoy your specially prepared three course meal  and some icy cold, locally brewed Stone and Wood craft beers. Get the opportunity to ‘ask the chef’ and a generous helping of banter along the way.

ABOUT OUR CHEF 

Carl Barnes’ impressive culinary career spans more than three decades, from cheffing at some of London top restaurants including The Ivy and Kensington Place. Carl has worked alongside many world-renowned chefs and cooked up a storm for famous celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow. He also ran a highly successful cooking school in Melbourne, and owned and operated three restaurants and two catering companies, before relocating to Pottsville five years ago. Carl is currently Executive Chef at Ripples Licensed Cafe at Hastings Point, where he puts a delicious new twist on best-loved classics and weaves age-old techniques and tricks into contemporary and innovative cuisine.

2-5pm, ‘alfresco’ on the Deck at Ripples Licensed Café

Places at the BBQ & Beer afternoon are $85 per person, and include:

  • 2½- 3 hour hands-on cooking class
  • 3 course lunch (entrée, main & dessert)
  • 3x locally brewed Stone & Wood beers or wine/soft drink
  • Free North Star stubby cooler
  •  Aprons supplied, along with take home notes & recipes
